31 May 2005 : The New [Media] Meme

Yet another meme… so soon after the Musical Baton?! Yeah, thanks a bunch, Pete!

Anyway, why is this a “literary stick”? It's a meme by him. Maybe this should be a media meme? Maybe I should start an @media meme to entice people into the pre-conference networking opportunities that lie in wait on the @media 2005 Flickr group. Maybe not.

Random five songs

The first five songs played when I put my entire digital music collection through Winamp on random:

  1. Searching (Erykah Badu – Baduizm live)
  2. Days Like This (Van Morrison – Days Like This)
  3. Another Place To Fall (KT Tunstall – Eye to the Telescope)
  4. Like Suicide (Soundgarden – Superunknown)
  5. Dynamite: I Am Your Animal (Gong – Camembert Electrique)

Current book I'm reading (or pretending to read)

The Design of Everyday Things by Donald A. Norman (currently on loan from the kind Mr Urmston).

Last movie seen in a cinema

The Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy (at Vue, York).

Five people to hit with a big, knobbly media stick

  1. Tommy Olsson, the new face of accessibility. (Another Baton)
  2. Matthew Bookworm Pennell (Me, me, meme)
  3. Kate Monkey, Monkey, Monkey… (And my favourite colour is, like, totally fuschia…)
  4. Karl Moggy
  5. The permanently tangential Rich Pedley

Update, 03.06.2005

Hmm, there's a Meme-o-meter for this one.

ok, rather than finish the answers to my 10 questions (yes, yes…i’ll do them later mom), two random thoughts:

1) saw HHGTTG on sunday, and was very underwhelmed by it…particularly the rushed “let’s tie all loose ends together quickly” ending. and where were all the clever guide expositions? yes, a few token ones here and there, but c’mon.

2) was listening to soundgarden’s “the day i tried to live” while cooking tonight…

Oh bugger — and on the day I’m not actually reading anything…

Not done your homework, Patrick? You’re so slack! Am looking forward to marking your work though. =)

Re: Hitchhiker’s Guide… having only ever heard the radio shows, I thought the film was OK – always expected it to be different again from the other versions. Wasn’t so sure about some of the casting though. Some of the characters just weren’t what I’d imagined.

Re: Soundgarden… Superunknown is a great album! I’ve just bought the second Audioslave album. It’s not as good as the first I think, but it’s alright.

Listening through my collection on random was cool. I found some stuff I hadn’t heard in a couple of years. Must go random more often.

Kate, and other people now rubbing their heads after I hit them – I should have mentioned in my post that you are quite within your rights to decline or twist the questions to your own wicked ways.

i actually started out my cooking with the first audioslave album, and halfway through the first song i thought “sod this, let’s get the original flavour out” and then went to get superunknown and rage against the machine from upstairs…

leaves you with image of chopping veg to rage’s soothing sounds
